Ballet Dancing Shoes

ballet dancing shoesThere is something enchanting to young children about the world of ballet. The beautiful clothing and ballet shoes worn by characters in stories are very much like those straight out of a fairy tale, harking back to more elegant times.

Do you wear supportive shoes generally? If you alternate between pointed toe high heels and flip-flops, you may decide to make a lifestyle change to help prepare your foot muscles for dancing ballet in pointed shoes.

Ballet shoes, or ballet slippers, are lightweight shoes designed specifically for ballet dancing. They are made from soft leather, canvas, or satin, and have flexible, thin soles. Ballet dancing shoes are typically available in pink, black, gray, or white.

Ballet dancing shoes design that is pleatless and has a nonelastic upper, as well as a toe that is elastic or stretchy and a toe-piece with a small amount of bunched material on its underside is the subject of US Pat 6 857 203.

Like many other types of  ballet dancing shoes, ballet shoes may have either split-sole (for enhanced flexibility) or full-sole construction. They are usually made from soft leather, canvas or satin:

  • Leather shoes are long-lasting and help to keep the feet warm. High grain leather shoes are typically the most flexible and comfortable, and also the most expensive.
  • Canvas shoes are typically worn by men. They cost less than leather ballet shoes and the canvas enables the foot to “breathe,” but it wears faster than leather.
  • Satin shoes, which are typically worn by women, are easily dyed to customize the shoe color.
  • The ballet dancing shoes must be very flexible. Many more experienced ballet dancers my want something a little more supportive but for children the flexibility of the shoe is vital. The shoes should protect while allowing for a natural feel and movement.

There are some tips for keep the ballet dancing shoes always look new :

  • Keep them clean, for deep-cleaning, use a dab of mild detergent, wiping clean with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Only wear them to dance, ballet dancing shoes are not designed to be worn as street shoes. Keep them in your dance bag and throw on a pair of flip-flops.
  • Stretch the leather, if the ballet shoes are made of leather, stretching them may help them to fit a little bit longer.

Never buy ballet shoes that are too big. It may be tempting, but ballet shoes were designed to fit snugly on the feet. Goodluck then….
