Dancewear Shoes

There are a range of items commonly worn by dancers and known as dancewear. The types of dancing covered by the term dancewear include ballet, urban dance, and tap dancing. Dancewear items are also worn by other types of performer, such as acrobats, circus performers and some rock musicians.

Ballet shoes, also known as ballet slippers, are well known items of dancewear shoes. Made specifically for the purpose, they are soft to the touch and light in weight and color.

A pair of dancewear shoes boasts of no slip soles with a metal shank on the arch of the foot for added support. These shoes are lightweight and flexible, enduring even the harshest of dance lessons. They can be worn by both amateur and professional dancers of foxtrot, tango, salsa, swing, Latin, and other ballroom dances.

Get your outfit first and match the dancewear shoes to it; don’t do it the other way around. It will be very difficult to find a color that would match perfectly, though, so go for a color that is complementary. Black or brown evening shoes are classic – they work with any dark colored outfit. If your dress shoes is in a pastel color, try ivory; soft, warm ivory usually works better than pure white.

These shoes are also becoming more comfortable for dancers and manufacturers are making them easier to stay on the feet.

Dancewear shoes are one of the single most important elements to one’s wardrobe. If the shoes are poor quality, then there is a good chance for the dancer to injure themselves or someone else.
